Tonight was a fun evening of friends and family as we head to moments before our wedding later today. Thanks to you all for following our journey and we'll soon post pictures of our wedding and celebration! We're inviting and encouraging our guests to upload and share photos to a Flickr account we've created especially for this occasion. Guests have access but we're keeping it public so that anyone can view the photos. Just go to http://www.flickr.com/photos/harryscottwedding T-minus 3 days and counting!! S Well, we're getting down to the wire! This week is a mad dash of work and final details for our wedding on Saturday. We enlisted Mom in the task of writing out the place cards ... some art left to be completed on them. We have our table centerpieces on order and are awaiting a delivery of the glass Scott will stomp in recognition of a part of his heritage! We're getting hit with the reality of the wedding at different times as we move toward completion of the final plans and hope to rest and relax a bit Thursday before the reherasal dinner on Friday. Thanks for coming along on the trip ... Harry and Scott
The time keeps moving ... Mom and Dad arrived Tuesday night in one piece dragging chilly weather and rain with them. Of course this started Scott in a panic over the weather on December 7th since our reception and ceremony are on an outdoor patio. Tonight Reverend Sylvester is coming to dinner to solidfy our actual wedding ceremony. The who, what when and why. We're almost there ...
A special thanks to our wedding guests Bonnie & Bob Shockey, who recommended Ryan Collins. All signs point to the perfect capturing of our big day! That said, we know our guests will want to take some pictures (and perhaps a video or two) of their own - especially with their smartphones. We will be establishing an public account on an easy-to-use image/video hosting site (e.g. flickr, photobucket) to make it easy for our guests to upload & share the photos. Last remaining element - nail down the four centerpieces. Pretty sure we'll go with LA Premier Flowers, which is 2 blocks from Cafe La Boheme. Well, I accused Scott of being the "groomzilla" in this venture but today my inner wedding insanity came forth - during the suit purchase ... We've been in need of new suits for awhile. Scott working in a newsroom and me from home, there hasn't been a great need to update our wardrobe in this area. Today we did the deed. Hardly a budget to work from we hit Men's Warehouse and made some choices after a relatively fast selection. Then it hit at home - does this line fall right? Do I have the right shirt... shoes, the damn shoes. and belt and tie, match em, be bold with them ... conservative? Why didn't I loose ten more pounds ... etc ... breathe! Can't say we haven't been making great progress. The wedding is 99.5 percent ready. Have had the venue for months, Locked in a photog this week. Menus decided - Invitations went smooth. Just some last minute table decoration decisions, place cards, discussion about the ceremony flow ... Scott and I do our best work under pressure and while that can be scary, it almost always proves effective. This week my parents arrive for the holidays and wedding. We have the guest room all set up for them minus the blinds that we ordered that are done but yet to be delivered and installed. I'm so happy we can share this time with them. We also are setting up our trust this week and getting our legal side in order - together 19-years but we kept a lot of our finacnial activities seperate. The wedding is actually reminding me that, although we've been partners for a long time, now is our time to actually unify a great deal of "little things." Work has been incredibly busy - took on more projects then ever in my 2-years of working as a consultant. Happy to be busy but it's adding a bit too much this week to the mania. Just after the wedding on 12/7 it will slow - enough to really enoy the holidays with family and breathe a bit more. So happy we set the honeymoon until our 20th "engagement" anniversay in late August in Provincetown, MA. We'll have this time to look back on from a very relaxed and comfortable setting. Thanks for reading! More to come ...
Didn't blog when we (exitedly) got the engagement rings, didn't blog when we selected the invitatations and got them out... but for the few remaining milestones of this rather small event, we'll share! So here now my first entry: Today we're one month away from the big day. We've nailed down just about everything except the photographer and the music playlist for the ceremony. Oh, and the limited amount of flowers to make up centerpieces. The great thing about a small wedding & ceremony at a restaurant is that the venue handles 90% of everything. I have faith in Cafe La Boheme, but then again lots of eggs are in their basket! We're very excited. Harry's parents arrive in less than two weeks. Thanksgiving is coming up the week after that. Then it's the final countdown! Even after more than 19 years together, I think we're more excited about this than we thought we'd be. I've been told that after the deed is done, and you look down and see the ring on your finger, it really DOES make a difference. Love to you all, Scott |
