Who would have thought that a late-night Rocky Horror Picture Show would mark the beginning of such a beautiful relationship?
Amanda and Jenn met through friends in the dark parking lot of the Santa Ana Regency Theater a few hours before Amanda's twenty-first birthday. Both adorned fish nets and didn't speak much to each other, but they would soon meet again; in another dark place, no less.
Among the gaze of a thousand sweaty dancers within the walls of The Avalon and caught up in the moment of music by the latest pop prodigy, Amanda asked Jenn, "You're gonna dance with me, right?"
Later, when Jenn was hesitantly attempting to leave, Amanda asked, "What is keeping you from staying here?" Jenn showed her a picture of Kurt, the blond-haired, blue-eyed four year old waiting for her at home (but most likely fast asleep). She looked to Amanda, waiting for a sign of disappointment or uneasiness. Instead, Amanda leaned forward and shouted over the music, "Kids don't scare me." At that moment, both shared a look of knowing, unity and love; the same look that would continue to be shared to this day.
Both Amanda and Jenn are happy to announce their engagement and invite their close family and friends to the eleventh of November: the day their hearts and families will finally be united in your presence. |
